Gilthas looks like the trees and the forest he is the guardian of, his skin slightly gnarled like the bark of a tree, his green hair moving like leaves in the wind. His eyes look at the world with quiet intent, his features have something feral over them, making you wonder at times whether there is some animal within him looking at you for its next meal.

Gilthas Moonshadow

Used to wandering the forests of the world on his own, Gilthas is at ease with just himself for company. He does like company from time to time, though, especially when his mood turns dark and his memories turn to times long gone, to a different world...

The animal within him is close to the surface at most times, showing itself and threatening to come out at the slightest provocation, snarling and spitting at the world. He also has a more gentle, melancholic side, though, which comes to the fore when he is amongst friends and fellow Kaldorei. He has retained some knowledge of songs and tales from previous times, and will share those gladly.

Ancient memories

Gilthas first came into the world in the years when the first World Tree, Nordrassil, was still young. He grew up in the forests at its feet, feeling a connection with nature, and rejoicing in it. He was a young elf when the last of the Highborne were exiled from the Elven lands, and set his first steps on the path of a Druid guided by the Keepers of the Grove. The cycle of the years moved slowly on, and he was content. He danced in the moonlight, travelled through the lands of Kalimdor, and slowly learned more about what it meant to be a Druid. One day, he was called to the sleep the long sleep, and wander the infinite paths of the Emerald Dream.

The long sleep

His sleep was longer than most. For untold years, Gilthas wandered the Emerald Dream. He has no clear memories of that time, though. He does recall hearing the Horn of Awakening, when most of his fellow sleepers were called from the Dream to defend Nordrassil. His own paths were more twisted than those of others, and he found his way out when all was lost, and the world was changed once more.

Awakening

He emerged from the Emerald Dream with little power, and had to start his training as a Druid again in the unfamiliar lands of Teldrassil, newly raised from the waters of the ocean. In travelling there he discovered that not all is well, the great tree infected with some taint, the balance lost. He has some doubts about Feral Staghelm, Master of the Cenarion Circle. The connection Staghelm has with Teldrassil might mean the taint has spread to him as well.

Many of his loved once from ancient times are gone, and slowly he is discovering the new nation of the Kaldorei, nurturing them as he once did his trees of old, and looking for allies both within as well as without his ancient people.

For a single lonesome tree, however deep its roots might dig, however wide its brances might spread, will fall more easy to the storm than when it is in the middle of the forest. And Gilthas feels that a new storm is coming...
