Dear Erynia,

The investigation you ordered on the different caverns in the Barrens continues. You have probably received the report from Aerandul concerning our investigation of the wailing caverns. A few nights ago Havaenara and I scouted yet another cave in the south of the Barrens, called the Razorfen Kraul according to the locals. This report is an attempt to summarize our findings from that place.

Maybe cave is the wrong word here, it was actually more like a network of valleys which were overgrown with a thick tangle of briars. It was a strange plant life indeed, maybe some of our herbalists might find it an interesting study. The place was inhabited by a strange people, half man half pig might be a fitting description. I think I've heard mention of their kind in stories where they were referred to as quilboars.

The quilboars I have heard mentioned in stories were nothing like the inhabitants of this place. It was almost as if they had been corrupted somehow. Unfortunately we were not able to discover a source of this corruption. All of the inhabitants were hostile towards us, so we were unable to question them. We did however learn from some of their battle cries that they followed someone called Agamaggan. This might have been a reference to the great boar that according to our lore fell in battle during the first defeat of the burning legion. One of the quilboars who seemed like some kind of leader also made threats that their 'new allies' would avenge them. However, we were unable to learn who these allies were.

There were also some disturbing troughs filled with blood and all sorts of remains scattered throughout the cave. What these were used for we couldn't tell. We also found some sort of mysterious cauldrons, but since none of us were very good with analysing such things, we decided to leave them alone. They might be connected to the corruption of the place.

We were also able to locate two prisoners deep in the Kraul. One night elf and one goblin. Unfortunately the night elf was so weak that he passed away just minutes after our arrival. Because of his weakened state, we didn't get much information from him. He did however manage to tell us that he had sent a dwarf to get help. The goblin was useless when it came to getting more information. He just wanted to get out of the place, and somewhat reluctantly we offered our assistance. The little greenie almost got us killed with his recklessness, but at least some good came of it. On the way in we had noticed some kind of red ooze that moved as if it had a mind of its own. The goblin called it the 'Blood of Agamaggan'. We speculated that the red ooze might have been manufactured by the quilboars in the bloodfilled troughs we had seen, but this remains speculations.

Having completed our search, we left the caves soon after we had escorted the goblin out. However the story doesn't end there because a few days later I got curious as to the fate of the dwarf the night elf had mentioned. I conducted a search along the most probable route he could have taken and was in fact able to find him! Or his remains actually. Looks like he had a quarrel with the taurens guarding the great elevator and was thrown off the cliffs. From his remains I was able to recover a diary that held at least some answers.

Apparently the night elf was a druid called Heralath sent to the barrens to examine the rumours of the fallen boar god Agamaggan. He was searching for the source of corruption at the site. As you probably know, Agamaggan was believed to be a pure god so why these foul creatures and malignant thorns scared the land was a mystery to him. During his search he had discovered that the quilboars were rousing their minions in the southern Barrens. He felt their power grew with each day, and was seeking help to stop them before the "plague of corruption" as he called it, could spread from the Kraul.

I believe that the scouting mission by Havaenara and me into the Kraul has disrupted the quilboars somewhat, so the threat they pose should be weakened at least for the moment. However we still need to figure out the source of corruption, and who these 'new allies' to the quilboars are. Hopefully we will have some more answers for you after our next trip into the Barrens. We have located yet another cave there close to the Kraul and are planning an expedition there in the coming days.

Sincerely
Darjana Stargazer

Sister,

By now you must have received Darjana's report about our first expedition to that cave. We have found an entrance to, what looks like a second cave, nearby. Luckily for us Darjana was wise enough to not let us go in there but make some inquires about this place first. She was even able to get an audience with the archbisshop!

He apparantly mentioned a liche resided in or near that second place. We allready found Aela prepared to go with us in to that place to decypher any runes or markings we might find, if you want us to. However both me and Darjana agree that, though we will undoubtly be able to go in and get out bodily unharmed, we need more advice before going in there.

I am sorry for my display of cowardness but I, we, can handle any physical attacks but the risk of facing powerfull magic makes me hesitant to go there unprepared.

Sisters,

I have dealings with this lich. And I would like to accompany you when you go there. The magick of that place does not scare me, but you are right not to rush in. I will do a little research about this place to. I hope we can go in there as a group.

Sisters,

I think that we should arrange an expedition in force into this place to discover what dire links it might have with the threat that faces us. I would like to accompany you, although I would not be able to do so until the end of next week, as certain tasks require my attention. If you feel that you cannot wait, and undertake this expedition without me, I understand.

Sisters,

if you want my assistance, please let me know.

I have spoken with the Archbishop as well in the past, and have made a brief foray into that place, but I retreated that time when I discovered the kind of opponents that were awaiting me.

I guess we could do it the end of the week then. Gives us enough time to prepare and look for weaknesses. Perhaps someone could scout the place before going in? I am willing to do that.

Sisters, Gilthas,

Perhaps we might consider launching an assault on this place on saturday, towards sunset, when the denizens of that place will be slow and lazy in the heat.

What say you?

At the start of the 18th hour, perhaps? We can gather in the Goblin port of Ratchet, and travel through the Barrens to our destination in force. I imagine that a small group of no more than five would be appropriate to this task. Who else will accompany Kyndra and I into the darkness?

Having been present in the scouting of the nearby cave, I would really like to see this through to the end. You can count on my support!
