Samhain - Day of the Dead

Samhain is also called Ancestor Night. As the veil between the worlds of life and death is thin on this night, we take this time to remember our beloved dead, our ancestors, a time when we honour examples of noble sacrifices. It is also the time of the final harvest, when the crops are safely stored for the coming Winter.

All Kaldorei are invited to join in this.
Non-Kaldorei are also welcome, as long as they come in the spirit of the festival.

Timeframe

19.30 - 20.00 - gather in Astranaar
20.00 - 20.30 - preparation, getting fruits and drinks, go from Astranaar to Winterspring
20.30 - 21.30 - The celebration "proper"
21.30 - 23.00 - Time to chat quietly, wander off, sit around the campfire

Food: Fruit (especially apples), roasted and cooked meat of any type.
Drink: Water and juice.
Dress: We would kindly ask everyone to wear a white clothing. If needed, we can provide a White Linen Robe. See below on how to get hold of one.

Activities:
For this celebration, we will visit the burial grounds in Winterspring where we will take some moments to remember those who have passed away. After that, we will go to Starfall Village and share stories of dead friends and family, who have died for something greater than themselves.

Bring wood for campfires to gather around.

- Meat can be gained from hunting various types of wildlife. Remember to bring the herbs and other ingredients to prepare these.

Notes:
It would be good if everyone thought about some history, story or poem to share around the fire. Also, we would ask people to try and hit a theme and tone of quiet remembrance. Try to hit a positive note in what you share. The idea is one of solemn celebration, not doom and gloom.
