Ishnu'Alah, everyone once again.

Being a novice priest alot of questions come into my mind and one of the first was the interpretation of our priestly powers and where do they come from. After spending my time studying various religious tomes in the temple and my own research notes I've decided to put my ideas on this parchment.

It is known by rule that we draw our abilities from the Great Mother but as healers, advisors, avengers of Her Will we have a wide range of abilities. There are our restorative abilities, the darker so called "Shadow" abilities and those between the two balacing both Light and Shadow.

Considering our Great Mother's two aspects of lit and dark side of the Moon I believe our abilities come from Elune's two aspects.

The Light Aspect given abilities such as prayers of mending, healing and even resurrection come from the life giving own divine power of the Goddess. Removing a serious disease, healing a most grave wound which could kill a person and last but not least bringing life to a lost one are a mere example of our Mother's power, powers which we see at work everywhere where life blossoms, where life goes into it's cycle of birth, growth, death, rebirth is a mere example of this.

During my short time within the Sisterhood of Elune I've seen amazing feats performed by my more experienced Sisters when invoking the Light Aspect of Elune. I've witnessed a nearly ripped to pieces person being brought back to life, his wounds healed and he lived anew. I've seen powerful blessings cast upon the sentinels giving them the touch of the Goddess.

Yet how does a priest pray for the aid of the Mother's Light Aspect? The Light comes from compassion, self sacrifice, purity. Only those purest of heart may call upon Her Light to perform the things i've witnessed and done myself to a lesser extent. Without compassion for all living things who are in the Mother's good graces, with no respect for the surrounding life forms these abilities would not come.


The path of Shadow comes by invoking the Mother's aspect as an avenger giving justice, swift retribution on those who harm her children, the Dark Side of the Moon which we often see as it moves in the sky.

When one wrongs the Life Giver they deserve nothing but pain, misery on both body and mind and this is where the "Shadow" powers come in. Avenging the Mother's will we can bring Her justice upon those deserving, control the mind of those who need guidance. Yet another proof of her life giving abilities are prayers of Shadow i've seen hurting our foes while healing those who called upon the Mother's aid.

Perhaps one could identify these abilities also as the Darker side of a person, but then again this is what I thinl.

The Discipline or powers of balance between Shadow and Light often can represent a scale. The Light Side on one part, Dark aspect on the other. I've seen those following the path of Balance show great stability and reason but have yet to discover more on this topic. Regardless as our Brothers from the Cenarion Circle say, without Balance one tends to dominate, while the other dims.

I hope this will be of aid to other Priests and Priestesses of the Goddess as I will add notes further on as my study expands.
