The Silvereye wiki is here: http://www.silvereye.dk/pmwiki.php and currently includes a couple of pages, and a number of stubs which are incomplete pages. This post will provide a step by step guide to using it, and explanation of how it all works.

What is a Wiki?
A Wiki is basically a very open content management system, where anyone with access can add, edit or change content. We have set one up for the following uses:
  • Character background
  • Event writeups
  • Other interesting information
It works with a sort of "mark-up" language, much like the one used on these forums - in other words, you enter certain symbols directly into the text, and these assign formatting to the text when it is displayed. It can look a little intimidating, but its not really more complicated than the forums, there are just more kinds of formatting.

Editting a page
This is a really quick step-by-step through how to use the wiki we have to edit pages. It doesn't cover how to use the markup, that is best done by actually trying it out - but you can always get more help from the rather good help and documentation included. The links are visible when you are editting a page, and open helpfully in a new window.

But, before you get that far, you need to edit a page. Click the goblin edit icon:

And you will then need to enter a password. The editting password is moonshadow (case sensative)

You will then be taken to the editor, which is a big text field that will either show all of the markup that generates the page, or, in the case of a new page, be blank.

Once you have entered your markup, you can preview or save the page. Once you save it, the page will be visible to visitors.

How do I create a new page
A good question! Its actually really simple. Either click on a link that doesn't yet connect to a page, like this one:

Or create a link in the editor, and then click on it.

This method allows you to add your own content and links simply by marking a piece of text, and then clicking on it and adding content.

That is it for this really quick guide to using the Silvereye Wiki. If you are having problems with it, have questions or comments, please post them here.
