I was looking around, and i've added bits and bats together to make the Elunian calendar....i will figure how to link it to the Gregorian soon.

There are 169 days per month (months are called Asta)
8 Asta per year
1, 344 days per year
(look at the math, it is wrong, but obviously the moon cycle is not perfectly even *shrugs*

The first day of the new Elunian Calendar is the sacrifice of nordrassil
The new....thingy....like a period of eyars. You know, Tolkien had the age of stars etc...
anyway, that's called Firima, means rebirth.

Day 1, Asta 1, Year 1 of Firima is the day Nordrassil was sacrificed.

WoW started December 1, 2004 which is Day 120, 3rd Asta, Year 2 of Firima

So, there's the easy bit........ 3146 days....from somewhere....

Anyway...now my own bits biggrin.gif

If we are to take 1 day as 1 day, in and out of game..it is now 29/8. 271 days from that release date tongue.gif. That means day 53 of the 5th Asta. but if we do this, then a year won't be a year...hard to do isn't it?

so, ignoring leap years, 365 days / year need to be made into 1344 :S It's about 3.7 of their days to ours....
basically...this way could work, but we'd be dead before long tongue.gif

So, let's use gregorian, and simply rename the months?

The Age is Firima, there are 12 Asta per year, 365 days per year. Each Asta has different days, due to the moon's cycle. *shrugs*. Starting from the date previously set, December 1 2004, and using the date given, 4 years ago, as the end of FT....lets assume 5 years, 4 months...randomly. That means we are now on the 29th of the 4th Asta, year 5 of Firima. The first day of the year, which is April Fool's day to you all in gregorian, is a special holiday. Elune is more awake, her moons become powerful, the moonwells are replenished. A day of great celebration. I'll let our celebrations person get hold of that idea, and think of something.

I'd like Nishma to co-ordinate on this calendar, try figure where Lughnasad was, and we'll sort the rest out.

Month names-
Month
1- (April) - Kal'Rima(Birth of the moon)
2- (May) - Farhal
3 - (June) - Sellistre
4 - (July) - Quel'Asta (High month, month of the sun)
5 - (August) - Mennare
6 - (September) - Yul'Baelo
7 - (October) - Bael'Asta (Month of the Guardian)
8 - (November) - Curuhen
9 - (December) - Norothil
10 - (January) - Xallvar
11 - (February) - Astrahe
12 - (March) - Yseralla (Month named after ysera, celebrating the dream etc..)

*wipes brow*...there.....tell me what you think

I just think we need to bring in something a bit more concrete. I cant say my birthday is in november...because that's using all these roman gods names that don't exist. So i made names up.

By the way Aerandul's 13, 200th birthday (one she celebrates as it's every 100 years) will be the 24th Curuhen. For those interested....

You of course realise that this will mean that I have to rename the Calendar months...

*exaggerated sigh*

Nice idea, but please keep it practical...

Sorry - I just had visions of a year of 23 months, with 11 day weeks and 83 hour days...

Your idea looks interesting though... I will see what can be done about "fixing" the calendar. *looks around hopefully for Gilthas*

Edit: Damn......days don't have names yet either......well this is going to be annoying....I'll work on something involving Kaldorei heroes and important figures.

These are for my reference - Malfurion Stormrage
Tyrande Whisperwind
Cenarius
Elune
Ysera
Alexstraza
Nozdormu
Queen Azshara
Xavius
Dath'Remar
Maiev Shadowsong
Illidan Stormrage

Sylvanas Windrunner was Quel Dorei, and therefor unlikely to figure too highly on a list of people the Kaldorei would honour.

Taiev: Hm.. I suppose it can be done.. is the test thingy still around?

And Aerandul, perhaps you could use some names of other great spirits, like the Boar (Agamaggan or something) and others.. see the bits I put up from the WoW RPG in the Glade of Lore.

No there are 59 posts there. But the page shows only the ones posted in the last 30 days and the sticky ones. If you want to see all the posts then you have to modify the filter at the bottom of the page. Taiev can it show by default all the posts instead of the ones in the last 30 days?
