Dear Taiev,

In my constant hunt for enchanting books containing further combinations for enchanting items, I was directed to the Tower of Azora in Elwynn forest. The tower itself is a strange place that gives a unique arcane feeling. The Master Enchanter is at the top of the tower; indeed she has a large collection of enchanting books. Needless to say, I was unable to understand most of them; I need to study more and harder.

As I was there skimming through books I could hardly read, I felt a strange sensation behind me. My skin was tingling and I felt that arcane energies were being invoked and used. As I approached, I noticed a human mage leaning over something spherical. He introduced himself as Theocritus and as I expressed interest in the spherical item, he explained that it is called the Eye of Azora. It is essentially a large sphere made of a white crystal-like substance. He explained that he found a suitable crystallised rock somewhere in Alterac Mountains. He used an arcane scalpel to shape the sphere, which he did not entirely detach from the rock.

After that he used an unknown to me process, which he did not disclose, to turn the sphere to an arcane spying device. He claimed he could spy in any place of his choice, on Azeroth. When I asked for a demonstration, he refused. He claimed that only people trained in the arcane arts could use the sphere. I managed to persuade him to let me try using my enchanting studies as proof that I can handle the energies of the sphere. However, he refused to point to an arbitrary place in Azeroth, claiming that the eye was locked on the tower of his rival, a mage named Morganth in Redridge Mountains.

As I touched the eye, my skin began to tingle and my vision blurred. My breath became shallow and moments later, I saw inside my mind a vision so clear, that it felt like I was there. It did indeed show a tower in Redridge Mountains. The vision rotated around the tower for a few seconds before it dissolved. I felt a bit disoriented afterwards but there were no other adverse effects.

Theocritus also claimed that the eye could tap into his rival’s thoughts. However, he mentioned that a special item called Glyph of Azora had to be near the tower in order for him to be able to do that. He asked me to help him and place this Glyph in his rival’s tower and I accepted, as I wanted to learn more about the Eye of Azora.

I am not sure if his claim that he can spy anywhere on Azeroth is true. In addition, I do not know if he can indeed look into someone’s thoughts using the eye. If these claims are true then we may have a potential powerful item that we could use in times of need. I will let you know if I discover anything further about the Eye of Azora.

Yours always,
Runae

Dear Runae,

I have long been aware of the Eye of Azora. I have spent much time in study in the Tower, and have found much insight in the books and in discussion with those who also spend their time in study there.

We should note that the mage seems so utterly focussed on his rival that he will consider no other use for the Eye. This is the danger of becoming obsessed with power.

Remember that power is a tool, and not an end in itself.

I remain,

Taiev Shadowglade.
