Moonrise
Shalisa Dusksinger was but a mere child when her parents took her to the Temple of the Moon in Suramar, to formally educate her about Elune. It has never been established if it was just the overactive imagination of a child, or indeed Elune herself but the following night Shalisa dreamt of a woman of silvery light, reaching out to her. One of the Sisters of Elune heard of this dream, and was convinced it was the latter.
The Sister first talked to the childs parents. They were easily persuaded to leave their daughter in her care, eager to have a Dusksinger join the Sisterhood again. Priestess Alliaria was however unable to convince her Sisters, who were sceptical to both the vision and to taking in such a young child. A compromise was eventually made: Alliaria would tutor the girl until she was older and if proven suitable, would then be accepted into the Sisterhood.
The Waxing Crescent rises
Shalisa was impressed by the stories and teachings of Elune, quickly becoming a passionate follower of the Goddess. The young girl greatly enjoyed her training under Alliarias kind care, but her happiness was not meant to last.
After too few peaceful years, disaster struck. The events surrounding the War of the Ancients and the eventual Sundering of the world would set the stage for the last part of her tutoring period. Following Alliaria as she did her duty on the battle field, Shalisa was forced to see things no child should see. Even though her world crumbled, the child kept hoping and praying, even when her very pillar fell; priestess Alliaria.
Clouded midnight
With Kaldorei society trying to recover from the war and Shalisa without a mentor, her future as a priestess was unsure. The kind priestess Alliaria was however caring for her protégée even in death; she had approached one of her Sisters to train Shalisa in case of her demise. And so it happened that Shalisa continued her training under the stern watch of priestess Haleona Nightwhisper.
During the relatively peaceful Long Vigil Haleona would hold true to her promise. She trained Shalisa, but would not treat her as an equal. Shalisa in return would not fully accept Haleona as her teacher, her fond memories of Alliaria were too strong. Despite the uneasy relationship, they would spend many days together, wandering the Kaldorei lands in service of the Goddess.
The Waning Crescents sets
Few are aware of the exact whereabouts and events surrounding Shalisa during the Battle of Mount Hyjal. It is assumed that she must have been involved in some of the smaller skirmishes, as she was not among the main attack force. In the aftermath of the battle there was no sign of Shalisa and it would be many moons before the priestess finally returned. The relief was short-lived as it soon became apparent that the priestess was a mere shade of her former self, in more ways than initially thought.
The New Moon rises
Shalisa returned with her loyalty to Elune as strong as ever, but her spirit broken, listless. She completely isolated herself from the rest of society, spending days on end praying. Soon after the establishment of the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus, Shalisa was called back to serve in the Temple. Her behaviour would remain unchanged, much to the dismay of the other priestesses.
It was known that Shalisa had never been one of the most skilled healers, but it was now clear that her skill in healing had deteriorated even further. Instead, Shalisa now possessed a new power; enveloped by dark, flaming shadows, her ability to directly assault the mind of her opponents had become second to none. Found unfit for the battlefield, the Temple doesnt send her on regular healing missions, but instead enlists her help for different purposes.
Shalisa now wonders the land, merely waiting for the Goddess to relief her of duty. Those who call on her in her capacity as priestess will however still find a loyal and dedicated ally in the otherwise indifferent Shalisa.
